Wedding expos can be highly educational – and not just for engaged couples explains Lesley Gasmier, registered Perth marriage celebrant.
Spring and summer are popular times for Perth weddings, so as winter tends to be a bit quieter, I recently took the opportunity to be an exhibitor at the One Fine Day Wedding Fair.
Wedding Expos are a fun way to learn the latest trends in Perth weddings, and for me it was a great chance to meet lots of engaged couples and discuss what they are looking for in a Perth wedding celebrant.
However I had other reasons to attend this wedding fair. What many people probably don’t realise is that by attending wedding expos and conferences for celebrants, I am also fulfilling personal professional development requirements.
All registered marriage celebrants in Perth (and Australia) are required to complete compulsory and elective activities as outlined by the Attorney General’s Department. This ensures couples enjoy the highest possible level of service and professionalism when they choose a marriage celebrant in Perth.
The Attorney General’s Department expects marriage celebrants to remain up to date with all our legal and professional obligations. To do this we must complete five hours of ongoing professional development (OPD) each calendar year. If we fail to meet this obligation, disciplinary measure can be taken including deregistration.
This highlights the value of choosing a registered marriage celebrant for your Perth wedding. You can be fully assured I have the necessary skills and qualifications to help make your wedding a success.
On a personal note, attending these wedding expos and conferences gives me valuable insights into what it takes to organise a wedding.
I came away from the most recent wedding fair thinking brides-to-be often need to become something of an event co-ordinator in the lead up to their wedding. There is just so much to organise!
