Perth wedding celebrant Lesley Gasmier looks at how your wedding ceremony can be a highly individual celebration of love.
As an experienced Perth wedding celebrant, I have helped hundreds of couples tie the knot. Yet I still find every wedding ceremony I am part of remains unique to the couple involved.
I guess that’s part of the appeal of choosing a celebrant – the freedom to shape your wedding ceremony in virtually whatever way you choose. This may be one of the reasons why close to 80% of weddings these days are conducted by celebrants like myself rather than being religious services.
Over the years I have been part of some truly exceptional weddings held in venues ranging from beaches and farms through to some of the beautiful parks and public places we have here in Perth.
The venue you choose is important as it is the backdrop to your Perth wedding. However the ceremony itself is the centre piece as it’s a public celebration of your love for each other. By using a celebrant you have the flexibility to tailor the venue and ceremony to your individual tastes.
Want to get married above the city in a hot air balloon? No problem. How about Scarborough beach at Sunset? Beautiful! I have to admit I’m not too keen on the idea of officiating a skydiving wedding, but if you are looking for ideas on your Perth wedding, I can certainly provide inspiration.
As one couple commented, “Hi Lesley, Thank you so much for a beautiful ceremony. You were so helpful and patient with us all the way through the planning, and it resulted in a beautiful, well organised ceremony. We loved how personal it was, and our vows were very special. We had a wonderful day.” Christie and Bryn.
The main point is that your wedding ceremony should be memorable for everyone involved as it can have a tremendously positive impact on your relationship. Another couple I assisted, Amanda and Shaun, noted, “We are happily married to say the least. It has changed the dynamics and definitely in a good way! Who would have thought a ceremony like that could make such a positive change??!!”
If you have any doubts about the power of a carefully planned and considered wedding ceremony, let me leave you with the words of Cat in the Hat author, Dr Seuss, who knowingly said, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
